Smokin' Monte Cristo Sandwich

What would be better than a combination of sweet and savory? Try this wonderful recipe for a Monte Cristo Sandwich. It has the richness of Gruyere cheese, the saltiness of ham and the abundant flavor of smoky raspberry!
  • 8 slices french bread
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 4 Tbsp butter - melt 2Tbsp
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 6-8 oz sliced ham
  • 6-8 oz Gruyere cheese
  • Smokin' Chipotle Raspberry
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs and salt.
  2. On each slice of French bread, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard.
  3. Layer the ham and Gruyere cheese on the bread and top with a second slice of bread.
  4. Put the assembled sandwich into the milk mixture and turn over to coat both sides.
  5. Gently place the sandwich into a skillet that has been warmed with ½ Tbsp of the remaining butter.
  6. Cook until both sides of the sandwich are a nice golden brown. Repeat with the other sandwiches, adding more butter to the pan with each.
  7. Slice in half and serve with Smokin' Chipotle Raspberry jelly.
